When Do You Worry About a Child’s Fever?

When a fever is present, the body works to control the temperature. A fever in a child can be quite concerning, especially for new parents. However, there is a time to worry and when you feel confident that your child's fever is expected, such as when they have vaccinations or are cutting teeth. You can determine the possible cause and treat the cause.
However, fevers are sometimes the result of an infection that is cause for concern.

Cause for concern is present when,
- Newborn to three months of age child with a temperature of 100.4 (Seek medical attention immediately)
- If the child has repeated temperatures above 104 degrees
- Temperatures of 100.4 in newborns to two years of age present for more than 24 hours.
- Temperatures of 100.4, present for more than three days.
- Continued fussiness and crying do not lessen
- The child is unable to drink ( possible dehydration)
- The child has under five wet diapers in 24 hours (possible dehydration)
- Child struggles to breathe
